Klinik Kembiri : History & Mission

I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being.

- Abraham Lincoln (16th U.S. President)

Klinik Kembiri is a dedicated low-cost, high-volume spay-neuter clinic in Setapak. We provide subsidized spay-neuter services for companion animals belonging to people from the lower income category, for animal rescuers and people caring for strays in their communities. Neutering is a proactive measure that stops the overpopulation crisis at source – unlike other short-term solutions such as dog-catching and euthanasia which are ineffective, expensive and short-sighted.

KK is a joint effort between Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur and SPCA Selangor. Since the inception of the clinic in 2003, we’re happy to report that as of December 2010 more than 17,607 cats and dogs (pets and strays) have been neutered at our clinic– preventing the births of over 20 million unwanted kittens and puppies.

We are pleased to say that the Dept of Veterinary Services (DVS) shares our vision of a Stray Free Malaysia, which we can achieve through more effective legislation, active neutering or pets and strays, differential licensing and public education!

It is our fervent wish to have KKs in municipalities all over Malaysia, and in 2011 we are targetting to finally set up a second Klinik Kembiri in collaboration with the Dept of Veterinary Services and municipal councils in Selangor in an effort to reduce the stray animal problem in and around these areas.
