Inspectorate : Inspectors' Journal

The inspectorate has had yet another busy year; improving on procedures, evidence gathering, crime scene investigation, uniform and equipment, as well as improving communications and working relationships with Government Departments and other animal welfare NGOs.

Animal Inspectors Cunera and Murugan respond to reports from concerned members of the public of mistreated or neglected animals in and around the Klang Valley. From January to December 2008, they had received and checked on more than 657 reports - the increasing number and the nature of the complaints received reflect increasing public awareness and concern for animal welfare. SPCA investigates the complaint, and will advice the owner on proper pet care. The inspectors will follow up on the case in the following weeks, and failure to improve the standard of living for the animal will result in the case being forwarded to the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) for their attention and action. In severe or emergency situations, the DVS is notified immediately and a joint-rescue is initiated.

Thank You’s
SPCA takes this opportunity to thank members of the public who had taken the initiative to report cruelty cases. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to the DVS Chief of Enforcement Officers, Mr Rajan, Encik Jamadi as well as Dr Redzuan for their invaluable advise and close cooperation with us through the years.

Alone, we can’t achieve much – but together, we can make all the difference for our Malaysian animals.
