The SPCA Humane Education program promotes animal welfare education, awareness and activities to enable participants to be well-acquainted with local and international animal welfare issues and responsible pet ownership. This program is sponsored in full by HSBC Bank Malaysia.
Visits To SPCA
In 2010, SPCA Staff conducted 15 educational talks at schools, colleges and events! SPCA also received 139 group visits in 2010, 1,707 students and volunteers in total. Four new educational leaflets were printed - 5 Freedoms For Your Pet, Caring For Your Puppy, Caring For Your Kitten, and the Volunteer Guide.
Visits to the SPCA Selangor Animal Shelter enable students and other volunteers to have a hands-on experience on caring for the shelter animals, sowing the seeds of compassion and volunteerism in them. Many students and companies also visit as part of their community service programs, while SPCA sta also assist students on their assignments and projects related to the organisation or animal welfare in general.
Groups that have visited the Animal Shelter include Taylor’s College, Multimedia University, SMK Taman Melawati, Mont Kiara International School, Hanxing Academy of Journalism, 1Academy, Sri Cempaka, Buddhist Institute Sunday Dhamma School, SJK Chung Hwa, UiTM Shah Alam, Raes College, Schlumberger Sports & Recreational Club, KL Bar Council, Accenture Consulting and Maha Vihara Brickelds, among others.
SPCA staff have also conducted educational presentations and activities at various venues including the Asia For Animals Conference 2010 Singapore, TM Accenture Bangsar, Polis Di Raja Malaysia K9 Unit, HELP University College, SMK Seri Bintang, Rumble In The Jungle @ HELP University, Taylor’s Colle(Subang Jaya, Klang and Bandar Utama), Garden International School, and at the Exxon Mobil Charity Week.
